Teams THE AVENGERS Base: Avengers Tower and Avengers Mansion, Manhattan, New York The Avengers are one of Earth's foremost major organizations of costumed superhuman crime-fighters, adventurers and heroes dedicated to safeguarding the world from any threat beyond the power of conventional peacekeeping forces or any of them to handle alone. Founded several months after the incorporation of the hero team Fantastic Four, the Avengers became the first superhuman team to be granted full official government sanctions by the National Security Council of the United States, the General Assembly of the United Nations, and later by the international intelligence/law enforcement agency S.H.I.E.L.D.. THE JUSTICE LEAGUE: Base: Watchtower in outer space. One of the most powerful and premier superhero team, a strike force comprised of the world's mightiest heroes. They act as stalwart protectors of sentient life; Earth's first line of defense against terrestrial, extra-terrestrial, inter-dimensional and supernatural threats. BIRDS OF PREY Base: Gotham City's Clock Tower. A team of female super-heroes that go on special missions across the world. They were created by computer expert Oracle and martial artist Black Canary, although their membership has greatly expanded over the years. THE TEEN TITANS: Base: Jump City, San Fransisco. An organization of young vigilantes banded together to fight crime. Beginning as a group of side-kicks looking to distinguish themselves from their mentors, they would go on to expand into a world-wide establishment. THE YOUNG AVENGERS: Base: Bishop Publishing, New York City. A team of younger superheros that someday want to step up and become and apart of the Avengers team. THE FUTURE FOUNDATION: Base: Baxter Building, New York City. Formerly called the Fantastic Four, as their ranks swelled they renamed themselves to the Future Foundation. X-MEN: Base: Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, Salem Center, Westchester County, New York. Following an encounter with the Shadow King, Xavier vowed to protect the world from the threat of evil mutants and endeavored to foster peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants. Working in conjunction with Moira MacTaggart, he eventually decided to start a school for mutants, training them to be what will eventually become his first "X-Men". X-FACTOR: Base: Detroit, Michigan. Private detective agency run by mutants. S.W.O.R.D Base: The Peak, Earth Orbit & Pandora's Box (research station). S.W.O.R.D. (an acronym for Sentient World Observation and Response Department) is a counter terrorism and intelligence agency which deals with extraterrestrial threats to world security. S.W.O.R.D. is a subdivision of the better known S.H.I.E.L.D. but appears to be largely autonomous of its parent organization. Since the departure of Nick Fury as director of S.H.I.E.L.D., relations between the two organizations have become strained. THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS.: Base: Oa An inter-galactic police force dedicated to protecting sentient life in every form, established thousands of years ago by the Guardians. Officers are chosen for their ability to overcome great fear and given a power ring fueled by the strength of their willpower, the mightiest weapon in the universe. They have two representatives for all of the 3600 sectors in the known universe, their headquarters located centrally on the planet Oa. Villians: THE INJUSTICE LEAGUE: The opposite of the Justice League is the Injustice League; a team dedicated to destruction. FRIGHTFUL FOUR: When the Sandman and Trapster escaped prison together they rescued a helpless Wizard, adrift due to his malfunctioning anti-gravity discs, along the way. Together they formed an alliance dedicated to humiliating their mutual enemies, the Fantastic Four, by becoming an evil, mirror counterpart. Now they will attack anyone, not just the Fantastic Four. THE BROTHERHOOD OF MUTANTS: A group dedicated to the cause of mutant superiority over humans. Throughout its various incarnations, the Brotherhood's agenda gravitated towards either subjugating the human race to the will of mutants or eradicating humanity altogether. Don't let the lack of villainous organizations fool you, there are plenty of villains out there they just don't like to work together like heroes.
